Generative engine optimisation (GEO)

People are starting to ask AI assistants questions directly, instead of searching and clicking through links. GEO is the work of making your page one those assistants can read and quote correctly. We do that work — we do not promise what the assistant does with it.

What GEO actually means

When someone asks an AI assistant a question like "is there a cafe open near me on Sunday", the assistant tries to answer directly, using pages it has read. It is not looking at a page the way a person does — it is looking for facts it can lift out cleanly: your name, address, hours, prices, and answers to common questions.

GEO is the work of writing and structuring a page so those facts are easy for an assistant to find and trust. It is not a trick or a shortcut. It is plain, careful publishing.

What we build into every page

  • Machine-readable markup — extra code on the page that spells out, in a format software can parse, exactly what your business is, where it is and what it costs
  • The same business details everywhere — name, address and prices match on every page and every listing, so nothing looks inconsistent to a system checking your facts
  • Facts and prices written as text, not baked into a photo or a graphic, so they can actually be read by software as well as people
  • Genuine question-and-answer content — real questions a customer would ask, answered in full sentences, not a list of keywords
  • Pages kept current, so what an AI assistant reads today still matches what is true today

This structure is included in every INATIQO website at no extra cost — it is built into the templates, not sold as an add-on, so this page has no price of its own.

What we will not promise you

We will not tell you your business will rank, be cited, or be recommended by ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews, Gemini or any other assistant. Nobody can guarantee that — these systems decide for themselves what to surface, using methods their makers do not publish and change without notice. If someone tells you they can guarantee an AI assistant will mention your business, they are selling you something, not describing how these systems work.

What we can promise is the work: a page built with the right structure, the right consistent facts, and real answers to real questions. That work is ours to do properly. What an assistant does with it afterwards is not ours, or anyone else's, to control.

Common questions

What is GEO?
GEO stands for generative engine optimisation. It means writing and structuring a page so that AI assistants — tools like ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews or Gemini — can read it correctly and use it to answer a question, rather than just listing your page as a link. It sits alongside ordinary search-engine optimisation; it does not replace it.
Why does this matter for a small business?
More people now ask an assistant a question directly instead of searching and clicking through a list of links. If your hours, prices and services are not written in a way that assistant can read cleanly, it may skip your business even if you are the right answer to the question.
Can you guarantee my business will be mentioned by ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews?
No. Nobody can guarantee that an AI assistant will mention, cite or recommend a particular business — the assistants decide what to surface, and that behaviour changes and is not published by the companies that run them. Anyone who promises you a guaranteed spot, a guaranteed mention, or a top result with certainty is selling something, not describing how these systems actually work. What we do is make sure your page is one an assistant can read and quote accurately, and leave the rest to the assistant.
What do you actually do, then?
We build the page so the facts are there and correct: machine-readable markup, consistent business details, prices and hours as real text rather than an image, and real question-and-answer content. That is work we perform and can show you. Whether any particular assistant then chooses to use it is outside anyone's control.
Do I need to pay extra for this?
No. This structure is built into every INATIQO website from the start — it lives in the templates, not as an add-on — so there is no separate price for it on this page.
How long before I see any change?
We cannot set a timeframe, because we do not control when or whether an assistant re-reads or re-indexes a page. We are not going to quote you a number of weeks either: any figure we gave you would be a guess dressed up as data, and it is the number you would remember rather than the caveat attached to it. Some pages are picked up quickly, some take much longer, and some assistants may never reflect a particular change. What we can tell you is when the work was done and what was changed.
